The international airport was formerly called the This is the international airport in Geneva, Switzerland. It is found approximately 4 km in the northwest of Geneva city centre. It is the top most rated airports in Europe. For every one minute, there is always a plane landing or taking off from the international airport. Geneva was first created as a field in 1919 in Cointrin, just near Geneva city. The sheds at the airport were made of wood from1926 UP TO 1031 until they were replaced with concrete sheds. During that time, there were little activities in air traffic. There was only the Lufthansa that was flying from Berlin heading to Barcelona. The first terminal of the airport was built in 1945 and started being used in 1946. The terminal is now known as Terminal 2.

If you are parking at the airport, the first 10 minutes are free of charge. The price will then increase after that at 2 CHF an hour. For a day, the parking is charged at 30 CHF. If you are parking at the Palexpo arena that is located 500 km away from the Terminal, the first three hours are free. A free ticket is often offered to display in front of your car. Several places for parking are available at the airport and if there is need or a reservation for parking, there is an additional charge of 20 CHF.

If you are to shop at the airport, you can start from the floor that is above the railway platforms. Shopping areas continues from there up the terminal and even to the Airport bust stop. There is a taxi free zone at the airport for shopping where you can buy some watches, diamonds, clothes and even liquors at a much reduced price. If you are in need of food and other groceries, there is a supermarket at the airport called the Migros. It is found at the exit from the train station.

There is always a free public transport ticket that is retrieved at the luggage retrieving hall that goes for 80 minutes.
